Teams!
Teams are the basic unit of organization structure and one
of the most powerful ways of getting work accomplished.
Who doesn't want to be part of a high performing team! A
winning team, a team that outperforms the others and
surprises itself is the goal of every leader. And the great
news is that high performance is not only possible, it's
well within the reach of most.
The main reason you want to move into high performance is
to outdo your competition. It's an extraordinary place.
Work becomes easy, natural, and fun. Work flows, you
achieve, you feel confidence, and you exude positive
energy. The High-Fives are real. The electricity is felt.
People have a sense of meaning, purpose, and fulfillment.
And the best part is that it is catchy, others want it as
well. So high performance can become a goal that others
shoot for, achieve and spread the possibility.
Background
I was part of a high performing team when I headed up
Client and Field Education for Shared Medical (now Siemens)
over 20 years ago. I loved the experience and when I left
to become an independent consultant, I wanted to teach
others how to move their teams to High Performance. I took
with me at that time the model that helped us get there and
is still the best model I have found -
The
Drexler Sibbet Team Performance Model.

It offers powerful insights into how a team works and
what’s needed to move to high performance. It goes beyond
the talk of group dynamics and gives managers a visual
picture of what is actually happening with the team. The
Model is also a map that makes
sense,
a way to determine
the team’s status, a
direction, and a language that all team members can grasp
and understand
Besides
our tasks, which were daunting, we had a way to discuss how
we were doing while we achieved our goals. Once we
understood the model, we began a process of redefining
ourselves in the context of TEAM. We found out almost
immediately that we did not have any idea of how good we
could be! We gained a fair degree of alignment right away
and we started accomplishing our goals almost immediately.
That first year we set a goal of making 300K in revenue
from our client education efforts. We made a million! Then
we set a goal of making a penny a share. That year we made
2 cents a share. When I left - two years later, The goal
was 10 million in the next three years. They achieved it!
My learning and theirs - is that High Performance,
performance that will blow away your assumptions is both
achievable and so desirable! When I consulted to CIGNA
International a few years later, they discovered that they
couldn't set a goal high enough!
Our
Offer
We offer a unique blend of consulting and training. We can
consult directly with your team to build their capacity,
and / or we can help you build high performance teams
within your organization. We will be happy to show you our
methodology, techniques and skill-sets. Our goal is to make
these yours, so that you can replicate our work and create
and sustain your own high performing teams.
Our team offer breaks down into four unique approaches:
-
Team Development / Team Training -
We can come to your site and teach your people about
teams, about The (Drexler
Sibbet)
Model, and how and why teams are such a powerful and
effective way of organizing work. These are typically
half day to a full day session. The format is lecture,
skill practice, experiential, and self
discovery.
-
Team Renewal -
We will come in as consultants to help a particular team
take an assessment of their present state, and help them
chart a plan for moving to high performance. We will help
them create a specific action plan based on their
assessment that
can
be monitored over time.
-
Team Start-UP -
We will work with you to launch mission critical teams,
cross-functional teams, and intact work teams. We help
you plan and execute a memorable launch
that
enables
team members to work effectively together.
-
Certification in the Team Performance Model
-
This is designed for internal HR Generalists and (/) or
OD consultants wanting to use The Model and do internal
Team Tune-ups and Team Diagnostics. This is a(n)
intensive workshop, requiring a participant to get a

to a clinic for additional coaching.
